The Sound of Silence!

And there was silence in the land!

Did you ever feel that in some seasons of our lives, there was more silence than we ever hoped for? ...you got a dream, you got excited, you prayed about it, prepared and was sure you are ready, but next, there was silence...you had a vision and all was going just as you planned, and next, there was silence...

What do we do in a season of silence, how do respond to a season of stillness?

Why is silence and stillness so scary to us?

What I’ve experienced through my seasons of stillness and silence, throughout the years, is that God is nearer than ever...God speaks more than I could’ve imagined...His tender love and care shows up in places and ways that are beyond surprising...

His guidance, His care, His love, His wonders, His provision can come in many different shapes and forms...

Instead of giving my findings about my seasons of silence and stillness, I would like to propose a series of questions, for you to ponder on.

The question is not if God is present, nor if He cares, nor if He is able or willing, the question is: are we listening?

Are we open to receive in this time? Are we open to receive His answers, His ways, and not the answers or venues we want?

Can we see and experience the blessing of this phase?

Could it be that we just perceive it as an inconvenience, and we are just way too busy to get out of it?

Could it be that we only would like our ways no matter what?

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it is hard to hear the small voice that guides us, it is hard to recognize the love and care that protects us and surrounds us.

Have you ever wondered what if the season of silence and stillness, is a phase where God is preparing us for the next steps, next stage of our lives?

Have you ever wondered what if this season, is not a season of frustration, or setbacks, but rather a season of growth, change, preparation, even rest?

Humor me and check it out with me, what the web says about Seasons: “seasons can be marked by particular weather patterns and daylight hours...or a period of the year characterized by a particular climatic feature or marked by a particular activity, event, or festivity...the time of year when a particular fruit, vegetable, or other food is plentiful and in good condition...add a quality or feature to (something), especially so as to make it more lively or exciting...to make more pleasant to the taste by adding something intensely flavored...to bring to a proper or desired state of fitness” ( google)

I think you get the big picture of seasons...

So let’s get back to silence and stillness...I dare to ask you this: What if this season of silence and stillness, is just an oasis, where we are sheltered from everything that is happening around us?...where we can learn the “art” of letting go...where we are unloading...we are set free of things not needed in our journey from here on...where we are prepared to be fit for what’s coming next...where we are fortified and strengthen?

What if this place and phase of silence and stillness, is the Mercy and Love of our wonderful Heavenly Father, to shelter us for some time?... a place and a time where He wants not just our attention, but also to show us His love, care and His wonders...a place where He hides us?

I learned to see and experience my seasons of silence and stillness as seasons where I discover, explore, experience, where I can wake up the wonder, where I share, where I find purpose, where I am preparing for abundance...a season where I discover new fresh love, joy and healing given to me directly by my sweet Jesus...a season where I am preparing for “the best is yet to come”!

My hope is that anytime we arrive to a season of silence and stillness, it will be a lively and exciting time, where we are seasoned and refreshed, a time of prayer, a time where the silence and stillness will not serve as a sign that God is not working, or not changing the circumstances, but rather that He is changing us. A time where we can see that God uses these seasons of silence and stillness to get us prepared...Our character is being developed...We are gaining experience, maturity and strength that we will need for where God is taking us... let us let this time be where we can experience and rejoice in the words of Psalms 46:10 : “Be still and know that I am God!”

I will leave you with a quote that I love and I like using it as my life motto: “God always sets us free FROM something, so we can be free FOR something” ( Rebekah Lyons, from You are free, be who you already are)...take few minutes and ponder on it.

What if God loves us so much, that at times He'll hide us?...within the sound of silence and stillness!
