To me Advent is the time of renewals and anticipations, is a time where I enjoy everything, the smells, the lights, the songs, the food, the people...everything ...to me anticipation is a God given gift, of what could be in the light of what is right now in front of me....I’ve learned that anticipating is allowing God’s rhythm of grace to bring me into possibilities by the way of His promises, without forcing anything, simply by trusting Him...what if we would not ask what we want for Christmas , but rather ask what we anticipate in this Advent season and Christmas ? After winter spring comes...I would like to invite us to let these words from the book Captivating by Staci Eldredge , to open our hearts and let it be filled with anticipation: “Every song you love, every memory you cherish, every moment that has moved you to holy tears has been given to you from the One who has been pursuing you from your first breath in order to win your heart. God’s version of flowers and chocolates and candlelight dinners comes in the form of sunsets and falling stars, moonlight on lakes and cricket symphonies; warm wind, swaying trees, lush gardens, and fierce devotion. This romancing is immensely personal. It will be as if it has been scripted for your heart. He knows what takes your breath away, knows what makes your heart beat faster. We have missed many of his notes simply because we shut our hearts down in order to endure the pain of life.....God delights in revealing Himself to those who will seek Him with all their hearts. He is an extravagant, abundant Lover, and He loves to reveal His heart to us again and again.” The question is how do we handle our hearts differently this season...
