Brilliance + Grace!

The other day my sweet friend let me borrow one of her books...as a pleasant surprise, hold and behold in the middle of the book, there was her little girl’s drawing filled with glitter...which of course resulted that the pages of the book now are filled with glitter..as I was walking away, she told me smiling: “be careful, you might be glitterfied”...as I heard that word, I smiled back and said: “oh I would love that, we all need glitter in our lives from time to time”... I kept thinking about that word...I love how it sounds: glitterfied... I looked up the word glitter: “shine, sparkle, twinkle, glint, gleam, shimmer, glimmer, wink, flash, glamor, brilliance, luminescence...” My favorite synonym for glitter is brilliance, and in my own translation this is how it looks: Glitterfied=Got brilliance? Brilliance doesn’t just shine or sparkle, it is vivid, also has intensity, wisdom, talent and intelligence...And because I really love this new word “glitterfied”, I started to think about it, play with the word , and I tried to see how and what glitterfied would look like in my daily life, how would it feel like when I give it , or when I am the one receiving it. First I looked at how can I glitterfy others....in other words how can I bring sparkles, shine or brilliance in other’s lives ...I can glitterfy others from the things I do, joy, kindness, love, all can bring glitter as much in me, as me in others...being approachable is another way to glitterfy others...after all when I am approachable I am not judgmental...for being approachable I need to take time to understand, if I judge I don’t have time to understand, and if I understand I don’t have time to judge : “Those who judge will never understand, and those who understand will never judge” ( Wilson Kanadi) Other ways to glitterfy others, would be by being graceful, bold, by not just talking about love and grace but practice them as well, after all there is a difference between deciding and doing.

Thoughtfulness is another way..or mindfulness, sensible, watchful, to be able to see what others do not. I can glitterfy others by being brave, if I am brave I might go places where others may fear to travel, exploring uncharted territory... Second, I thought of how others can glitterfy me...it came to mind the incredible smile of my sweetheart, how he smiles his eyes are filled with shine and how seeing it , it fills me with glitter...a graceful word, a thoughtful act, a small gift, a card, a random kind act, a simple text message or email, a good laughter with a sweet friend, having great food together with folks I love, a walk, an encouragement, the long talks with my sweet friends...all the simple things in life, and all of these can glitterfy me. I came to the conclusion that being glitterfied is really in the simple things, and we all can glitterfy one another, we just have to choose to do it. We should ask ourselves the question, not just on a daily bases, but more times daily, “got glitter?”, and think of ways not just how others can glitterfy us, but also how can we glitterfy them.. after all we all love and need some glitter in our lives!
